Hello from Ann Marie's father,

Life can be wonderful with your loved ones,friends, colleagues until one day
it hits you where it hurts.
I am talking about loved ones, you raise them to your greatest expectations
making plans for them, seeing them raising a family of their own,having
wonderful grandchildren to play with and bring joy to our lives.
About 33 years ago I had a wonderful baby daughter and like every dad
you start planing their life for them,which is what I started doing.
And then the hospital results came. Ann Marie  was born with  a blood disorder called "Thalassameia Major" which means that for the rest of her life she will need blood transfusions every month, which normally lasts for about 8 hours.
In my dispare I started looking for  alternatives.I came across a company called Cobe Spectra, they manufacture the " Cobe Spectra Apheresis System" a machine which reduces the blood transfusion time from 8 hours to just 90 minutes. I spoke to the doctors at the hospital ,but their answer was a cold polite refusal, claiming that the hospital does not have the funds to buy  the Cobe Spectra.( view photos at my pics),
I had to do something to raise the money myself  for the Cobe Spectra, organising charity football  tournaments, household promotions, whatever I could thing of,  for my efforts I could only raise about $ 6900 not even near the $92,000 needed for the Cobe Spectra.
And then life struck the second and most heartbreaking blow.
5 years ago at the age of 28 Ann Marie was rushed to the hospital with diabetic disorder, her blood sugar was down to  0. Although doctors tried to revive her she fell into a coma for 5 weeks and when she came out of it 5 weeks later she had the brain of a 4 year old. For the first time in my life I've cried uncontrolably like a little baby.Words could not describe the devastation for the whole family.
